2017

Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between APB UiTM Pulau Pinang Branch and Universitas Tanjungpura, Pontianak Kalimantan Indonesia.

The Academy of Language Studies of Universiti Teknologi MARA, Cawangan  Pulau Pinang (UiTMCPP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Universitas Tanjungpura ,Indonesia on 28th August  2017. This Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the former Rector of UiTMCPP Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Fozi Ali and the representative of the Dean of Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Dr. Sudarsono. Present at the ceremony were Deputy Rector of Academic Affairs, Deputy Rector of Industrial and Linkages, Head of Department, Academy of Language Studies, academicians from UiTMCPP and 25 post graduate students from the Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Pontianak, Indonesia.  This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) prime aim was to stimulate ideas on English Language Learning Expertise between Malaysia and Indonesia. The MOU signing, headed by Dr. Rofiza Aboo Bakar from APB UiTM and Dr Ikhsanuddin, from Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Tanjungpura, addresses topic pertaining to English Language Learning and Teaching, and collaboration of research and grants, journal and book publishing, seminars and conferences in the future.

The MOU kick-starts with activities listed in 2017 as below:

  • A seminar entitled the ‘International English Language Expertise Partnership: A Malaysian- Indonesian Joint Venture’ with the theme ‘Creativity in Teaching and Learning: A Blue Print for Success’ which was held on the 23rd August 2017
  • Keynote speeches delivered by Dr Ikhsannuddin, Dr Iwan Supardi and Dr Rofiza Aboo Bakar.
  • Workshops on E-Learning and varipous activities of teaching English Language were conducted by Dr Mah Boon Yih, Mr Budiman Sabri Ahmad, Puan Suzana Ab. Rahim, Mr Noor Azli and Puan Noor Laily Yusof.

                                    

 

2018

Visit to Universitas Tanjungpura, Pontianak Kalimantan Indonesia by UiTMCPP Delegates in 2018

(26- 27 October 2018; Pontianak, Indonesia)

The delegates of the Academy of Language Studies were welcomed by the Teacher’s Training Education Faculty, Universitas Tanjung Pura (UNTAN) in October 2018. The APB delegates were accompanied by the UiTMCPP’s Rector, Asscociate Prof TS Dr. Hisbany, HEA Vice Rector, Prof. Madya Ir. Dr. Ahmad Rashidy Razali and OIA officer Mr Adi Izhar Che Ani. It followed a successful visit by the delegates to the Malaysian Consulate in Kalimantan, a bilateral meeting with the Rector of UNTAN and finally an International Conference held by the Teacher’s Training Education Faculty, Universitas Tanjungpura (UNTAN). The Academy of Language Studies delegates attended a Joint International Seminar UNTAN -UiTMCPP on English Language Teaching with the theme ‘Developing English Language Education in Digital Era: Sustainable Innovation and Creativity on Local/Global Wisdom Based Language Learning’. The ALS delegates also presented their research papers at a conference held by FKIP the next day. The conference featured ALS UiTMCPP Head of the Department, Dr Rofiza Aboo Bakar as the plenary speaker at ICOTE 2 2018 (International Conference on Teaching and Education (ICOTE 2).

2019

A visit of the Post Graduate students from the Teacher Training and Education Faculty, Universitas Tanjungpura (UNTAN) to Academy of Language Studies, Universiti Teknologi MARA Cawangan Pulau Pinang

On the 25th June of  2019, the Academy of Language Studies welcomed delegates from UNTAN. Dr Yohanes Gatot Sutapa and Dr. Regina with 18 students of post graduate studies were  invited to join the International, Workshop, Seminar  and Innovation (IWSI 2019) A Malaysian -Indonesian Joint Venture hosted by ALS UiTMCPP. It was a  one-day event that showcast two keynotes, two plenary sessions, two workshops and innovation competitions held in the vicinity of UiTMCPP. The IWSI 2019 served as a platform for lecturers and students to expand their researches into innovations and to showcase their products, prototypes and new ideas.  There were 19 booths with latest innovations in teaching english.       

 

                                                                           

Three best innovation award were given to

  • Nina Englis, Hanita Oktaviani and Atrianus Toni with an innovation entitled ‘Improving Students’ Vocabulary Achievement by Using Whatsapp to Junior High School Students’,
  • Noraziah Mohd Amin & Wan Noorli Razali with an innovation entitled ‘The Use of “Synonyms Now Aptly Paired” (SNAP) for Motivation in Learning English Words: A Study of UiTM Students’ Perceptions on a Card Game’
  • Atikah Rain, Lesmiati & Tampil Arindora with an innovation entitled ‘The Effectiveness of Using Canva to Improve Students’ Speaking Skills and Creativity’.

The event was officiated by UiTMCPP Rector, Asscociate Prof TS Dr. Hisbany and witnessed by all deputy rectors.
